Description
Dr Jeri Booher writes:
Ferrari comes equipped with an impeccable pedigree. Light fawn, full Accoyo Ferrari is a direct son and grandson of two of the most noteworthy and important contributors of Accoyo bloodlines imported from Don Julio Barreda’s Accoyo herd in 1994, Caligula and Victor. Added to this Accoyo genetic mix is the contribution from the best and top imported Accoyo female in 1994, Pperuvian Sara. Sara is the granddam of many of TIMBERLAND ALPACAS’ past and current herd sires such as Victor’s Vic Jr, Victor’s Valedar, Victor’s Hemiaccoyo Grand Finale and Hemingway’s Hemiaccoyo Grand Slam. Ferrari’s dam, Sara’s Sonora, is also a Champion. The “Power of Pedigree” is stamped all throughout Ferrari’s bloodlines.
As powerful as this genetic combination is, and as tall and as proud as Ferrari stands in his pasture, the proof of any herd sire is his prepotency, and his ability to transmit all of the positive traits that are contained in his genetic mix. In this regard, the offspring of Sonora’s Accoyo Ferrari have lived up to and beyond expectation. In addition to producing a broad spectrum of solid colors from white to bay black, his offspring have expressed “to die for” fleeces – bright, bright, deep amplitude, highly aligned staple, fine and dense, beautiful heads, superior coverage from top to bottom, strong and heavy bone structure. Although show winnings should not be the sole predictor of a successful breeding program, the Ferrari offspring have made, and will continue to make their mark in the show ring, winning many top awards and Championships in shows throughout the U.S. In 2008, Timberland donated bay black female, “Ferrari’s Burgundie” to the AOBA National auction. She was the highest selling donated female for 2008 and for many of the previous years. In 2007, a light fawn Ferrari daughter, “Ferrari’s Peruvian Eternity” was purchased at the AOBA National auction by a fellow breeder, Greg Mecklem of Pacific Crest Alpacas, who in his words, says that “he never buys at auction”. Ferrari’s offspring have taken multiple first places at shows throughout the country along with numerous championships in the various color groups. A Ferrari son, Ferrari’s Hemiaccoyo Kashmir, is now a Foundation herd sire at TIMBERLAND.
